About Field Data Collector

Field Data Collector (FDC) provides geospatial mapping technology for use at a dig site to review or create a map of underground utilities. Excavators, engineering design teams, facility operators, locators, and emergency response teams will be able to use FDC on current or future construction sites. Emergency response teams can quickly gather critical information at a strike location.

Q: How do I open a ticket?

A: Click on the magnifying glass icon to open Search. Enter your ticket number to search and make this your active ticket. You can also click the star icon to add a bookmark to access the ticket more easily.

Q: Can anyone open any ticket?

A: You may have noticed that in the FDC-Demo you can open any ticket in the system. These are demo tickets that anyone can open. In a production version of FDC, you can see the location of other tickets in the area, but you can only see feature data for your own tickets.

Background

During development of the FuzionView product, the need for a field based GIS data collection tool became apparent. Field Data Collector (FDC) works with the FuzionView software which aggregates all utility location data (GIS) into a single map “on the fly”.
